The Five Measurements

A measuring tape, a mirror, two minutes.

  1. 01

    Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Wear a regular bra and breathe normally.

  2. 02

    Waist

Around the slimmest part of your waist — usually about an inch above your belly button. Keep the tape snug but not tight.

  3. 03

    Hips

Around the widest part of your hips, usually 7–9 inches below your waist. Stand with your feet together for an accurate reading.

  4. 04

    Shoulder

From the bony point of one shoulder, across the back, to the bony point of the other shoulder.

  5. 05

    Length

From the top of your shoulder, straight down to your ankle. The tape must pass over the bust for an accurate full-length reading.
